Eclectic?

Eclectic is a term that means "taking from many sources." Eclectic Wiccans practice a faith that allows them to take their religion from amny sources while holding on to a "backbone" of belief.
This shouldn't be confused with not having a tradition or just doing what you want. Done properly, eclectic Wicca involves a lot of research. For example, an eclectic who wanted to add Venus to the deities she prayed to would, if she were properly trained, do several hours of research into Venus, including how she was historically worshipped. If her historical worship would have to be compromised to work with her in the circle, the eclectic would not work with her in such a manner. Taking the cultures of their sources into account is important to eclectics.
Eclectic should also not be confused with having no tradition! While some Eclectic have no tradition, some traditions expect eclectism of their members! How much eclecticism is used depends on the trad.
